Whether you are taking someone out for the first time or been seeing each other for quite some time now, you should still make an effort to suit up for date night. How you dress can affect your date’s impression of you.

But what should you wear? The answer isn’t as easy as it seems. The right outfit depends on the ambiance, venue, weather, and the time of the date. However, you should have these pieces in your wardrobe to get you started:

• Jacket

As it turns out, a jacket can say a lot about a person. After all, it is the first thing people notice about you, especially when you go out to meet single women.

But don’t just throw in any kind of jacket! Gone are the days of oversized jackets that look like it’s going to swallow you whole. Today, a nice fit is everything.

In that case, make sure to pick a classy or well-fitted undershirt. It should be comfortable enough for you to move around but still have a nice fit. That way, you don’t feel underdressed.

• Footwear

To help you stand out even more, you can wear a pair of boots on your first date with a foreign woman. Wearing sneakers or flip flops might tempt you to slouch or even slack off during your date. Whereas with boots, you have to mind your posture in order to justify wearing them. If you don’t have boots, then go for your finest oxfords, brogues, or derbys.

• Accessories

If you want to make a statement, the right accessory would do that for you. Aside from your standard cuff links, you can complete your outfit with an elegant wristwatch, a classy pair of eyeglasses, or even a simple signet ring. Not only do they complete your outfit, but accessories can also bring out your personality.

These pieces would not only make you look sharp but also enhance a cutting figure. But even with the right pieces, you still need to make sure you carry them well. You can enhance your appearance even further by:

1. Grooming yourself: An hour before the date, make sure to take a bath, gel your hair, tidy your beard (or other facial hair), and apply your best cologne.
2. Showing some skin: These days, you don’t have to be as covered up anymore. Don’t be afraid to show your ankles or even pop the first two buttons on your polo. This makes you look less stiff.
3. Picking timeless pieces: Do not be easily swayed by the latest fashion trends. You can’t go wrong with classic and timeless clothes.
